Meadow Lane Stream Restoration Project 2023
A 500 foot section of the Kishacoquillas Creek was restored in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). The project used several different types of rock and log structures to alleviate streambank erosion, direct stream flow, and reduce flooding impacts all while creating habitat for fish and other aquatic organisms. The landowner also agreed to fence out his section of stream creating a sizeable riparian buffer which will serve as a filter for runoff, shade for the stream, habitat for terrestrial organisms, as well as providing leaf litter for benthic macroinvertebrates. The local chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Mifflin County High School Environmental club provided much needed support for the planting.
